President Couple FAQ

Becoming the President Couple

The President Couple leads the WestShore DeColores Secretariat and our community. Each year the Secretariat prayerfully seeks a new Vice President Couple to walk alongside them and, in time, lead this movement. 1 Peter 4:10 reminds us, “God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another.”

Frequently Asked Questions

How long is the commitment?

Three years. You serve the first year as Vice President, the second year as President, and the third year as Past President.

How is the Vice President chosen?

The board accepts letters from those who are qualified, and the position is voted on by the community.

Does it have to be a couple?

No. A single person may serve and must meet all of the qualifications. For a couple, one spouse must meet all of the qualifications and the other should meet them.

What are the qualifications?

• Completed three (3) DeColores weekends as a team member, or at least two (2) DeColores Ministries weekends plus one (1) substantially similar weekend in the Cursillo tradition as a team member.

• Have been a Rollista on a weekend in the Cursillo tradition.

• Have been a coordinator on a weekend in the Cursillo tradition, or completed a Fourth Day Training (leadership training) workshop.

• Have been a member of the WestShore DeColores Ministries community for at least three (3) years at the time of the nomination.

• Be a person whose life typically exemplifies the DeColores community.

How do I apply or nominate someone?

Send a letter to the board. A written résumé of the nominee’s qualifications is presented with the nomination. Letters can be given to any Secretariat member or to our President Couple.

Where can I learn more?

You’re always welcome at our Secretariat meetings, held the 2nd Monday of each month at 7:00 PM at Fruitport Community Church (see the WestShore Events page). The duties of each position are described in the WestShore Bylaws.

Interested in Another Board Position?

Every position on the Secretariat helps this ministry serve our Lord – Secretary, Treasurer, Men’s and Women’s Registration, Newsletter Editor, Equipment, Supply and Food Inventory Coordinators, Historian, the Renewal Committee and our Church Contacts.

If one of these is on your heart, we would love to invite you to a Secretariat meeting so you can learn more about the position and ask any questions. Just let us know by filling out the Want to Work Form (check the position you’re interested in), or talk with any Secretariat member.
